One in the same, sorta

Its increasingly apparent that the level of petty bullshit is on the rise with in our society. Specifically between the two main breeds of Hispanics in San Jose. The homeland Paisanos and the local Chicanos collectively have spent more energy focusing on their differences than their similarities. As a homeland Chicano, I feel that those differences that we make true, are that of a reality. Chicanos and Paisas are different. Period. Our cultures are similar in ways because we both spawn from the greater Hispanic culture. Like the Australians to Appalachians, there is a great disconnect, even though they both come from the Anglo culture.

Most Chicanos I know don't speak spanish. To me that's a shame. I for one, can only understand it. Personally, I think that not speaking spanish creates a huge disconnect between Chicanos and the rest of the Hispanic culture. Minor things like this keep the Hispanic youth divided. Whether or not its entirely true, but these divisions are what help to keep the people aligned with north or south. Its bullshit. We are one in the same.
